There's a secret Rotax racing club. Okay it's not called Hellfire, but it is part of Club 100, and it's secret because you won't find it on the Club 100 web site.
Why am I blogging about it? Because Kate received an email a couple of days ago asking if she'd like to do a race 'with the secret club'. And we're today at Buckmore to do a race with Extreme 60 (which is the secret club's actual name). Dig through the Google archives and you'll discover that the 60 minute Rotax races are described as the equivalent of a karting Iron Man.
It did feel special this morning when we handed over the race fee in an unmarked envelope. And it felt even more special when we realised that the invitation email had only gone out to a few people.
So how did the race go? Kate was nervous, because 60 minutes in a Rotax kart is a tough thing to do. And it was raining. Even so, Kate finished P15 in a grid of 33, and P9 in class, lapping a lot of people. She had a fab time. And she didn't feel like death when the 60 minutes were over. And actually, Kate was using it as practice for her not secret Club 100 Experience championship races this afternoon.
But I probably shouldn't be telling you all this because it's a secret.
Wow. So that’s a mammoth 60 minute morning warm up for afternoon club100 racing? Chapaeu!
Brilliant.
