Tara Herm had probably been inspired by her Dad Michael when she drove to P4 in last weekend's InKart race at Daytona Sandown. Michael made it to the BIKC (British Indoor Karting Championship) Nationals in Warrington, and drove well enough to get some dedicated camera work on the live stream. And although he's very modest about it, Michael looked good on track having never driven there before.
Tara is only 12 though, so she's got plenty of time to work up towards becoming BIKC champion. And you know what, after listening to Tara's mum describe the InKart race, and Tara talk about the battles she had on track, it sounds like she has the makings of a champion.
As Tara said, she almost, almost came third. She worked her way from 8th to 3rd, and was battling with three others for podium places, when the slower pace of the lead driver caused the top four drivers to bunch, and fourth place driver Zoey snuck through. With not enough time on the clock, Tara was unable to get the place back, and she finished in P4.
What a drive though. When Tara got into third place, Dad and Mum, Michael and Sarita, couldn't hold back their encouraging shouting. And watching Tara and Sarita recount the race this evening, I couldn't tell who had the bigger smile or who was most proud.
Or maybe it was Dad Michael who was the proudest. Like father like... daughter.
Beautiful piece, thank you 🥰. Tara can’t wait to wear her new BTK team badges with pride. ❤️
